Deputy Director of National Health of Commission WANG Hesheng attended the 2019 of World Blood Donor Day

2019 World Blood Donor Day was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province on June 14, 2019. WANG Hesheng, deputy director of the National Health Commission, attended the event and delivered a speech.

WANG Hesheng pointed out that the Chinese government will fulfill its government responsibility to view blood service as a basic medical service and continuously improve blood safety to guarantee people's health and maintain social stability.

According to statistics, more than 15 million people nationwide had participated in voluntary blood donation in 2018 and the total volume of blood donated had reached more than 25 million units. Both indicators had been growing continuously for 20 years now that all the blood for clinical use came from voluntary non-remunerated donation.

WANG Hesheng emphasized that by following the principle of scientific development, overall coordination, accessible fairness, safety and effectiveness, highlighting the administration of blood service, strengthening propaganda and adapting other measures, issues arising from the development of blood service and incoordination between urban and rural areas could be solved so that the blood management would be promoted to a new altitude.
