The 13th Education Course for Leadership of Blood Service(ECLBS), jointly organized by CSBT, Shanghai Blood Center, AABB, ISBT and WHO Collaborating Center for Blood Transfusion Services, was held in Shanghai on October 27. QIN Jing, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and ZHU Yongming, President of CSBT and director of WHO Collaborating Center for Blood Transfusion Services, attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, President ZHU Yongming welcomed all leaders and colleagues coming from afar, and expressed his gratitude to all the enterprises for their long term concern about the development of blood transfusion and their support for this course.

From 2008 to 2018, twelve ECLBSs have been held. Of the 555 trainees, covering 31 provinces municipalities nationwide, 550 successfully graduated. ECLBS, which has trained a large number of managerial personnel for domestic blood establishments, has won a good reputation. This ECLBS invited 21 reputable experts in the field of transfusion medicine, immunology and management to give lectures. Fifty-two trainees form 20 provinces and municipalities attended this course. Despite their different professional background and working experiences, trainees were confident to understand blood establishments business, command the management methods, and know the present research status in transfusion medicine by this course.
