Whole Blood Collections Steadily Launched in Beijing, 2019

According to the latest statistics, 162,149 units of whole blood donations have been collected by Beijing Red Cross Blood Center, achieving a year-on-year growth of 27%, from January and April, 2019. Among them, 140,688 units were donated by individual blood donors, with a growth of 42%; 20,673 units were donated by donors of organized groups, with a growth of 45%. With more and more optimistic influence, blood collection is steadily launched in Beijing and has shown a good developing trend.

Recently, supported by relevant government departments, Beijing Red Cross Blood Center set up new blood donation sites and optimized existing ones. Meanwhile, by recruiting more medical staff timely, personnel shortage caused by increased donation sites was alleviated. By establishing and perfecting the performance appraisal protocols, staff’s enthusiasm and initiative were raised.

Advocates go first. Right after the Spring Festival, group blood donations sponsored by Beijing Municipal Health Commission and Beijing Hospitals Authority, and organized by Youth League Committee were carried out, involving 1200 medical staff from more than 30 medical units. Totally 1,258 units of blood were donated.

Well begun is half done, but further efforts are yet to be made. As long as confidence is there, courage is there, effort is there, success is there. Guaranteeing safe blood supplies to greet the 70th anniversary of P.R.China!
