Shanghai celebrated the World Blood Donor Day

On the evening of June 14, 2019, the publicity event for the World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) , co-sponsored by Shanghai Blood Center and Shanghai Blood Management Office, was conducted at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai. Hundreds of blood donors, volunteers and representatives of social organizations had participated in.

On the day of the event, many organizations and individuals enthusiastic about non-remunerated blood donation performed on stage with their talents. Among them was the 310 Public Welfare Basketball Team led by KAN Xiaojun, a local radio presenter, who shared their blood donation experiences and presented their recruitment plan for blood component donations among college students.

During the evening, landmarks in Shanghai, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Sinian International Building, Art Museum, Shanghai Expo Valley, Mercedes-Benz Cultural and Art Center, were lit up with red symbol of life, which indicated that Shanghai, a city of public welfare and humanity, was expressing thanks to those life-saving blood donors. Through this lighting show, the atmosphere of celebrating the 16th WBDD could be felt anywhere along the Huangpu River, which made it an exclusive “red” night for all adorable blood donors.
