On January 25, Shanxi province launched a first-level response to COVID-19. In order to ensure both the blood supply and the health of blood donors, Shanxi province blood center enhanced personnel guidance and disinfection of donation site and vehicle. And it’s worth mentioning that Bai Lin, director of the Shanxi Blood Center, donated platelet five times from January 27 to April 16.

Although blood donation was hit hardest by both the COVID-19 pandemic and Spring Festival holiday, clinical blood demand did not decrease. Facing the dilemma of blood shortage, blood center staff chose to extend working time and donate blood to alleviate the shortage.

In addition, Shanxi province blood center had sent 4000 mL of convalescent plasma of COVID-19 to Wuhan for the treatment of severe and critical patients.
