On the morning of September 5, 2016, Lu Taohong, director of Shanghai Blood Center, Lin Junjie, director of the Office and Zhang Yi, minister of the Donor & Hospital Services who were attending the 34th ISBT International Conference on Blood Transfusion in Dubai, UAE, met Miriam A.Markowitz, the Chief Executive Officer of the American Blood Banks Association (AABB).
First of all, Lu briefed Miriam A.Markowitz on the progress of AABB certification at present stage at Shanghai Blood Center, and hoped that Miriam would give help and support for the AABB site simulation audit in late September and part backbone of the Center heading to AABB headquarters to study and exchange in early December. Meanwhile, they are looking forwarding to future cooperation on the 10th webmaster seminar hold in the period from November 15 to December 5. Issues had been in-depth exchanged concerning statistics on blood donation adverse reaction, cell therapy, pathogen inactivity technology application, human T-cell virus detection, and clinical blood guide and blood cold chain. Miriam highly appreciated the progresses and achievements of the Center in AABB certification, fully affirmed the Center as a bridge of domestic blood stations and AABB and as the first blood station certificated by AABB. She said that webmaster seminar supplied importantly guidance for China blood institution mastering domestic and foreign blood station management skills, building and perfecting the quality management system, carrying out research on transfusion medicine. Then Dr. Shan Hua, associate chief physician of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine will come in the name of AABB and share their strategic problems and corresponding countermeasures in respect of transfusion medicine.
By the end, Lu and Miriam expect closer and more sustainable coordination in the future.
