New book: Selected WHO Documents on Promoting Blood Safety, approved by the copyright department of World Health Organization (WHO), has been published by Shanghai Science and Technology Press.

In order to ensure the quality, universal access and safe use of blood and blood components, Action Framework to Advance Universal Access to Safe, Effective and Quality-assured Blood Products 2020-2023 was issued by WHO in the year of 2020,  following the release of numerous related documents by the World Health Assembly (WHA) and WHO. The framework has not only analyzed the difficulties and challenges in current access to safe blood, but also listed the priorities of WHO for the next 3 years, and recommended the standards, guidelines and practical tools to accomplish these work.

Since 2021, a batch of essential WHA resolution, WHO standards, guidelines and practical tools were selected to be translated and issued into Selected WHO Documents on Promoting Blood Safety by Shanghai Blood Center, WHO Collaborating Center for Blood Transfusion Services, with the support of WHO relevant departments. It was aimed to facilitate reference by domestic peers, which, together with other issued WHO documents, could improve the effectivity of blood safety regulatory mechanism, the management of blood establishment, as well as blood quality and safety.
