In the afternoon of May 27th 2013, Dr Allain JP gave a lecture entitled “Hepatitis B Viral: background and blood safety countermeasures” in Shanghai Blood Center. Qian Baohua, director of Changhai Hospital of the Second Military Medical University. Zhu yongming director, Zou Zhengrong deputy director of Shanghai Blood Center and Qian Kaicheng director of institute attended the lecture. This lecture was chaired by Professor Qian Baohua. There were 113 people from Shanghai Medical Association blood transfusion branch, blood stations of suburban counties and Shanghai Blood Center attended the lecture. 

Professor Allain JP, a member of transfusion transmitted diseases working team in International Society of Blood Transfusion, is an international expert in infectious blood transfusion risk study with great attainments in occult hepatitis B and blood screening strategy study. In this lecture, he mainly discussed the mechanism and research of occult hepatitis B virus and blood safety issues. He also compared the nucleic acid test in developed country and developing country and gave a quantity of advice to improve blood safety. 

Then Xie Yunzheng, minister of Testing Laboratory gave a report entitled“HBV Nucleic Acid Test in Blood Donors of Shanghai”. Shanghai Blood Center is the first blood bank to carry out blood nucleic acid test in China. He introduced experience in blood nucleic acid testing and initial research results of occult hepatitis B in our center.
