On October 20, Wuhan Blood Center announced that the cartoon mascots of blood donation Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao were officially released after being designed by experts and solicited opinions from various parties.
The cartoon image of Wuhan blood donation mascot made its debut in February this year. After a symposium and the collection of opinions from blood donors, the two mascots were finally named Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao.
The design inspiration for Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao originates from three key elements: the bridgehead of the Yangtze River Bridge, the waves of the Yangtze River, and blood. This is not only a tribute to every blood donor, but also reflects Wuhan's unique bridge element and Yangtze River culture, as the word Qiao is the Chinese pronunciation for bridge. Dressed in red sweatshirts with the pattern of blood drops printed on their chests, the mascots vividly portray warm-hearted heroes who donate blood for love.
The name Da Qiao highlights the characteristics of Wuhan and epitomizes how the blood donors here work together to build a bridge of life with their blood. Meanwhile, Xiao Qiao, a name after a famous woman in ancient China who combined wisdom and beauty, is a delicate and gentle connotations, reflecting the positive vision of promoting Wuhan voluntary blood donation enterprise, embracing a brighter future through tolerance, perseverance, and wisdom.
