On October 15, the 15^th Round of Education Course for Leadership of Blood Service (ECLBS), jointly organized by the CSBT and Shanghai Blood Center (SBC), was initiated in Shanghai. Prominent leaders such as YU Gongyi from the Medical Emergency Department of the National Health Commission (NHC), MEI Canhua from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and ZHU Yongming, the president of CSBT, were in attendance at the opening ceremony .

The course was designed to comply with the requirements of the relevant law and regulations, draw upon advanced experiences in blood establishments abroad, and in conjunction with our own circumstances, enhance the professionalism and management skills of domestic leaders in blood establishments. This 18-day workshop encompassed 23 core courses, 6 extended courses, and 17 other educational activities, with a total of 46 participants from 21 provinces.

At the opening ceremony, president ZHU stated that since its establishment in 2008, ECLBS has successfully held 14 sessions, with a total of 693 participants and 684 graduates, cultivating numerous talents in management and technical field. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to NHC and Shanghai Municipal Health Commission for their great support, and warmly welcomed to the trainees.

Mr. YU emphasized, in his address, that blood undertaking is of crucial significance to public health, attracting great attention from NHC. He proffered his felicitations on the launch of ECLBS, and expected all participants would obtain valuable knowledge and contribute to China’s blood transfusion undertaking.

Mr. MEI, on behalf of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, initially welcomed the trainees, and expected all of them could exchange experience on this platform, and make contributions to the industry. He also anticipated that SBC would exert every effort to well organize the course and educational affairs.

This ECLBS will promote the development of China’s blood transfusion undertaking，and enhance national management and service levels in blood establishments.
