On November 29, 2024, the 14^th Strengthening Foundation Training Course on Clinical Blood Transfusion, was held in Bengbu city, Anhui Province. At the opening ceremony, president ZHU Yongming of CSBT, conveyed his appreciation to the organizers through a video address for their comprehensive preparations. He indicated that CSBT has successfully organized 13 training courses, which have benefited blood transfusion professionals in many economically underdeveloped regions nationwide. Starting from this year’s session, the training course has been officially renamed to Strengthening Foundations. The 15^th course is scheduled to take place in Zaozhuang city, Shandong Province.

At the ceremony, Mr. HU Jianguo, dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University, and Mr. FAN Wenan, director of the Anhui Province Blood Management Center, presented speeches, emphasizing the significance of blood transfusion in clinical practice and the necessity of enhancing the technical capabilities of blood transfusion services at primary healthcare institutions.

This training program invited five renowned experts from Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Affiliated Hospitals of Anhui Medical University to deliver lectures. It covered essential topics including ABO, Rh blood typing and standardized operation for cross-matching. Additionally, hands-on simulation exercises were included, during which the experts offered on-site demonstration and personal guidance.

Since the year of 2016, Working Party on Clinical Transfusion, CSBT, has organized 14 training courses, benefiting over 700 trainees, including directors and main technicians from primary hospitals, which has significantly contributed to address the uneven development of clinical blood transfusion in our country. In the future, CSBT will continue to respond to the national call by training more professionals in fundamental institutions, thereby enhancing the clinical blood transfusion proficiency of primary healthcare facilities nationwide.
